Detroit Through Glass: Day 1

Graham Davis in Google GlassWe’re settling in to our not-so-new-anymore Detroit office in the GM Renaissance Center. I’m here full time and also live in the city, after moving to Midtown in July from Lansing. Growing up in Milford, I always wanted to live in Detroit. After an almost decade-long MSU/Granholm/Truscott Rossman Lansing detour, it’s great to now call Detroit home.

I’ve had a lot of fun exploring the Motor City over the past few months. One of my favorite things to do is take photos while out and about in the city, to show off all Detroit has to offer — most of which is easy to miss if you’re just coming downtown for an event or a meeting. (Let me know if you ever need a good restaurant recommendation in Detroit!)

Now, I’m really excited to be able to be able to share even more of my travels around Detroit, thanks to my new pair of Google Glass. After using them for the first time at Google’s recent Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit event, I knew they were for me – and so I jumped at the chance to join the Glass Explorers program over the weekend.

My own Glass device came yesterday and I’m anxious eager to use it sharing photos and videos from Detroit over the next few months. It will be especially nice when it’s warm enough to bike, since I’ll be able to take photos and video while biking without taking both hands off of the handlebars.

Glass over Detroit

So far, I haven’t had a chance to get out much, but have worn them around the Renaissance Center. I’ve had a few weird looks, but most folks don’t seem to notice. Stay tuned for more posts to come on Glass in Detroit — and how Glass is useful in our public relations work. Be sure to check back in as I explore Detroit through Glass over the coming weeks and months.

    #teamshale! 🙂

I’m glad to see you’re blogging about your experiences with Glass, too, Graham. We will need to compare notes from time to time. Cheers!
