‘Feeding Frenzy’ Keeps Legislators Fueled Through Last Days of 2013 Session

LANSING – State lawmakers, legislative staff and lobbyists remained full and energized during the final legislative session days of 2013, consuming more than 363 pounds of food and 30 gallons of coffee, provided by Truscott Rossman.

Although the final session days last week each lasted nearly 10 hours, they were relatively short compared to lame-suck sessions where legislation must be acted on or die.

“This year’s feeding frenzy was a piece of cake compared to some years when we’ve served well into the following day and then started with coffee and donuts early the next morning,” said Truscott Rossman CEO and principal Kelly Rossman-McKinney. “This was reasonable and responsible.”

This was the third “Feeding Frenzy” put on by Truscott Rossman since Kelly Rossman-McKinney and John Truscott merged their firms in January 2011. The event had previously been a longtime tradition of Rossman-McKinney’s firm, The Rossman Group.

Attendees munched on 450 bags of chips, 1,400 Slim Jims, more than 89 pounds of candy and cookies, 180 donuts, more than 206 pounds of fruit, 240 granola bars, 27 gallons of juice, 480 cans of pop and consumed 33 gallons of water.

“We were glad to help make sure legislators stayed at the top of their game by providing much-needed food and beverages,” said Truscott, president and principal of Truscott Rossman. “Special thanks to McAlvey, Merchant and Associates for help keeping our lawmakers in constant supply of coffee.”
