With the election of Mike Duggan as mayor of Detroit last week, many folks are wondering what it means for our city and our state.
It’s no surprise that Crain’s Detroit Business turned to our principals John Truscott and Kelly Rossman-McKinney this week twice to break it down.
Immediately after the election, Crain’s asked Kelly what she thought of the mayor-elect:
Kelly Rossman-McKinney, CEO of lobbying firm Truscott Rossman, and a Duggan supporter, said she’s “delighted to see Detroiters make a wise decision for their mayor.”Rossman-McKinney said Duggan’s work ethic and penchant for problem-solving will help the city.
“I have worked with Mike on a number of occasions, and I have seen up close and personal his unwavering commitment to solving the impossible. No one relishes a challenge more than Mike Duggan, and Mike Duggan is the last one to leave the field. He is relentless.” (TR Note: Truscott Rossman is not a lobbying firm)
Now that Election Day has passed, many are speculating as to who Mayor-elect Duggan will appoint to his Cabinet. John Truscott was quoted in Crain’s today on the hiring process:
But regardless of the exact process, Duggan will be able to attract strong managers, said John Truscott, president of Lansing-based Truscott Rossman, a bipartisan strategic communications firm.“He will attract the best and brightest. I have all the confidence in that.”
We’re excited for the future of Detroit – and can’t wait to see what Mayor-elect Duggan has in store for the city!

Congratulations on your new office. Based on what I have seen, especially the enthusiasm of Graham Davis, Detroit is fortunate to have your firm be part of its future.
