LANSING, Mich. – John Truscott, president and principal of the strategic communications firm Truscott Rossman, has been elected chairman of the statewide governing board for Ele’s Place.
Ele’s Place is a nonprofit, community-based organization that supports grieving families and provides a comforting, confidential place for grieving children to cope with the death of a parent, sibling or other loved one free of charge. With locations in Lansing, Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor, Ele’s Place has far-reaching impact on the lives of children across the state.
“I am honored by the opportunity to serve as chair of this wonderful organization,” said Truscott, whose firm has offices in Lansing, Grand Rapids and Detroit. “I’ve been a supporter and volunteer at Ele’s Place for many years and could not be prouder of the work Ele’s Place does. I look forward to continuing its tradition of excellence.”
“John Truscott has the statewide experience and name recognition to help Ele’s Place reach even more children,” said Laurie Strauss Baumer, president and CEO of Ele’s Place. “We are confident that under John’s leadership, our organization will be stronger than ever.”
Without compassionate support and coping strategies such as those provided by Ele’s Place, grieving children and teens are more likely to resort to drugs and alcohol to overcome their sorrow and less likely to achieve academic success. Ele’s Place was established in 1991 and is named in honor of Ele Stover, who died in 1989 at the age of 11 months. Ele is survived by four siblings whose lives will be forever affected by her life, illness and death.
Truscott Rossman represents local, statewide, national and international clients. The firm offers a full range of communications services, including issues management, crisis communication, media relations, new media, government affairs, ballot initiatives, community relations and grassroots initiatives.
