Two weeks ago, seventeen teams gathered eagerly at the gates of Friedland Industries recycling facility to partake in Lansing’s Old Town fourth annual Scrapfest competition. This year’s sculptures were unveiled this weekend at Old Town’s seventh annual Festival of the Moon, and the 13th annual Festival of the Sun. The festivals featured live entertainment, food sampling from local restaurants, handcrafted beer from Bell’s Brewery, and wine tasting. The festival is one of Old Town’s largest fundraising efforts to continue the revitalization of the community. Funds from these events help to provide free events like the Turner Street Outdoor Theater, and Thanksgiving baskets for families in need.
As promised, we captured shots of the amazing sculptures as well as some of the wonderful volunteers who helped make the events run smoothly throughout the weekend. Enjoy!
